Indoor Environments
Our indoor environments at our nursery in Shepperton are entirely designed to be amazing places for children to spend time and develop. We have a neutral colour-scheme keeping the rooms natural and peaceful. We enhance this further by furnishing the rooms with beech wood ‘Early Years specific’ furniture which ties in wonderfully with our natural environment.
Everything we include in our resources and equipment is of the highest standard. For example, we have a Community Playthings Nursery Gym in the Baby & Toddler rooms. This is a fantastic piece of equipment for encouraging physical development and skills as well as providing a superb base for social development and interactions as well as trial-and-error problem solving skills as the children take on the different elements of it. Community Playthings are an industry leader in providing Early Years equipment. Each item from their range is designed based on extensive research and understanding of every aspect of Early Years development.
We also have Community Playthings Dream Coracles for our younger children to rest in. Our Babies and Toddlers sleep especially well in these and they give children higher levels of independence and security at rest times. These brilliant beds can double up as cosy spaces for story times.
A favourite of Playtime Nursery Shepperton’s children is our huge soft play area. This is accessible for children in the nursery to use and it has three levels of challenging and fun obstacles to support children’s developing physical skills, as well as providing endless fun. Children work together in the soft play area, developing and creating games and negotiating the obstacles. We work very hard at Playtime Nursery Shepperton to develop the children who attend in every way possible, to nurture them and help them grow. Part of that is them having lots of fun and having time to delight in the sheer pleasure and joy that being a child brings. Our soft play area gives them that.
Outdoor Environments
Nursery life at Playtime Nursery Shepperton includes lots of hours outside every week. Our garden is laid fully to lawn giving the children a safe space to explore their range of movement and play together freely. In our large garden we have climbing equipment, a Sensory Garden, a Mud Kitchen and a Growing Patch.
The climbing equipment challenges children physically, giving them space to grow into through the challenges. As they do so, their confidence is boosted and they are supported in learning by the knowledge that they can do things they set their minds to.
Our Sensory Garden offers a quieter space in which each sense can be stimulated.
From our Mud Kitchen the children get the opportunity to get their hands dirty and enjoy the simple delight that is mud pie making.
Our Growing Patch allows them to take responsibility, learn to care for something, witness the life cycle, and we love to see the excitement the children have when their vegetables are served up as part of their lunch.
We also have a large wooden TeePee structure which is a favourite den to read and tell stories in, to talk with their friends and our staff in, and to cosy down in and relax.
