At Leo’s Children West Bridgford, our Toddler and Nursery Room helps to cater for children’s increasingly developing physical and communication skills. Our team will spend endless time singing songs and telling stories to your child in order to help support their developing communication skills and language acquisition
Imaginative play, including dressing up and playing pretend games with dolls and teddies, is encouraged. There are plenty of ‘sit and ride’ toys and trolleys and prams to push around that are great to help your child develop their physical skills. The Community Playthings play gym is a firm favourite with many of the children too. There are also lots of puzzles, shape sorters and games for them to enjoy, along with developing their fine motor skills.
Our team members encourage your child to try new things and motivate them to learn. We spend quality time with your child, both individually and in small groups, to support their continuously growing social skills. Our team will also take the time to help your child understand how to engage with others, with a focus on more challenging concepts such as sharing and taking turns.
Sensory, heuristic, pretend, physical and creative play are at the heart of the activities taking place within this room, to support your child’s learning and development journey.
The role of the Key person
Your child will be assigned a Key Person whose role is to really get to know your child and support their individual needs. Every child is unique and whilst they will encourage your child’s growth and development, it is important that this is at each child’s own pace.
Building on developing skills from when your child was younger our Key People work with children to help them to continue their social and independent skills. This is often the age/ stage where children begin to become interested and ready to start toilet training. All of our rooms at the nursery have child sized toilets and access to potties to support children on this journey.
Our nursery team will also spend plenty of time singing songs and telling stories to your child in order to help support their developing communication skills and language acquisition.
