Letters Matching Game

This activity lets children practice their letters and sounds in play.

For this activity, you need a few magnetic letters and you place them onto a baking sheet. You then need to write the letters that have been chosen on a piece of paper for your child to use as a key. Next, you cover the magnetic letters in flour and give the children a small paintbrush to then look for hidden letters. When one is found, they must match it to their paper key before continuing for more letters.

To continue with supporting children’s literacy skills, you can help the children pronounce the phonic sounds when matching the letters. For some older children, they may be ready to start blending sounds and creating words.
