The high winds and changing weather make this the perfect time to go for an autumn walk and collect your treasures.
This activity can fill up your weekend! Give your children a paper bag each and go for a walk in the woods so they can collect slabs of wood, twigs, leaves, moss and especially acorns. Encourage your children to think about what they can create with all of their treasures and look closely at the acorns…I think that looks like a little hat, what do you think?
Once you’re back from your walk and at home, collect some more materials including googly eyes, pieces of felt, pipe cleaners, wool, marker pens and whatever other craft materials you may have.
Now your children’s imaginations can run wild!
If your children have managed to collect enough sticks and pieces of wood, why not encourage them to create a whole house for the acorn family? They can decorate the house with leaves, moss and other natural materials they’ve found.
