At Bourne End Day Nursery, we strive to provide the children in our care with healthy, balanced meals. Children need a varied, nutritious diet in order to support their growth and learning and we aim to give your child the best start in life.

Mealtime

We provide breakfast, dinner, and tea, as well as snacks of fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the day. There’s also access to drinking water at all times.

Whilst we encourage children to try new foods, we work in close collaboration with you to ensure that we know what foods your child has tried already at home and build on this.

Mealtimes are seen as a social occasion at our Bourne End Day Nursery. Our team members will sit with the children while they eat and assist the younger children when they need help. This also helps to encourage the older children to be independent, serve their own food and use their cutlery to feed themselves.

We are very aware of the need for a varied & balanced diet and the importance of providing food with the correct nutrients to set a positive path for a child’s growth, mental & physical development.

Weaning

If your baby is currently weaning, we will work with you to help them move from pureed food to lumpy food and then to a normal diet.

Our menus are seasonal and rotated on a 3-week basis, carefully designed to provide a balanced diet for all our children. Each menu is informed by current guidelines to ensure they are nutritious and appealing for young children.

Catering for special diets

We are able to cater for children who need special diets for either religious or medical reasons. If your child has a food allergy or intolerance, we have strict procedures in place in order to ensure they are kept safe.

There is a large garden at the back for the children to play in and a good sized garden in the front. Our daughter at 3 years old can already count well, recite the alphabet and is competent with colours and shapes. She was speaking fluently by 2 years old which made our life a lot easier! There is no doubt that PlayPlus have helped our daughter develop and progress. So much so our younger daughter will be joining next month. Our daughter is soon to leave and, despite being keen to start school, she'll really miss coming here. She's been very here and always comes out smiling - especially going back after lockdown! The staff in both the baby unit and Kingsway are excellent and it's clear they really care about the children in their groups. The garden is also fantastic and it's great that the children get to spend so much time outside. Our son will be starting in the baby unit soon and we know we'll be leaving him in good hands.
