Bambino Day Nursery is located just a few minutes from High Wycombe Railway Station and High Wycombe Town Centre but is set in a gorgeous rural environment. Our nursery building is a huge detached converted lodge and it is set in three acres of wonderful grounds. The lodge has lots of character features that we have retained, including large windows that flood our rooms with natural light.
Home-from-home nursery that encourages exploration, curiosity and discovery
Our rooms all have a fantastic feel to them, which the children love as they spend time in them. We believe that they all create a ‘home-from-home’ feel for the children, albeit an extremely exciting, fascinating and inspiring one where their imaginations need know no bounds. We have some superb age-specific features in each room. Our older children have a great indoor ‘water table’ which they love to get absorbed by. Our younger children have particularly well-resourced construction areas and a cosy and comfortable ‘story time’ canopy. The rooms are all decorated in a soft and gentle colour palette and are furnished with beechwood ‘Community Playthings’ items, giving all the rooms a calm and natural feeling.
Outstanding outdoor environments
Our three acres of private grounds have allowed us to create a phenomenal array of outdoor environments for our children. We have a large peaceful fish pond which the children absolutely love; a huge vegetable garden where the children grow flowers, vegetables and herbs; a thriving insect hotel, and wide expanses of lawned areas – all overlooking fields and nature. These combine to create an extremely natural setting providing endless moments of joy and wonder for the children.
Building strong and positive relationships with our families
Our aim is to provide an environment at nursery where children feel loved, nurtured and secure. We know that building positive and strong relationships with families, and then maintaining them is the key to this. We promote working together with our families, including them in nursery life. For example, by sharing skills that they have; or inviting parents that play a musical instrument in to demonstrate and share that skill; keen gardeners come and help us with planting; or parents share how they celebrate special days and religious days at home by baking, reading or dancing with children. Along with these kinds of activities the staff team carefully plan interesting and engaging experiences for children and engage with children in a way that maximises teachable moments, ensuring that children reach their potential.
We see our environments as a ‘third teacher’ taking our children’s play in many different directions – and having continuous access to resources really allows them to be absorbed in their play. Our combination of freely found, authentic resources alongside what could be described as more traditional games and toys allows for more open-ended possibilities and less ‘overly directed’ activities which can stifle children’s creativity and learning. Skilled staff are able to support children in a holistic way to make the most out of their time in the setting.
OFSTED have rated our Bambino Day Nursery as “Good”.
