At Lancaster Avenue Nursery, Our team members encourage your child to try new things and motivate them to learn. We spend quality time with your child, both individually and in small groups, to support their continuously growing social skills. Our team will also take the time to help your child understand how to engage with others, with a focus on more challenging concepts such as sharing and taking turns.
We continue on the journey of helping your children to confidently communicate through careful support of language acquisition. We will support your child in the start of their journey to becoming a successful reader and writer by providing a language-rich environment, including interest tables and writing areas.

The Role of the Key Person
Your child will be assigned a Key Person whose role is to really get to know your child and support their individual needs. Every child is unique and whilst they will encourage your child’s growth and development, it is important that this is at each child’s own pace.
Building on developing skills from when your child was younger our Key People work with children to help them to continue their social and independent skills. This is the stage where children begin to become interested and ready to start toilet training. All of our rooms at the nursery have child sized toilets and access to potties to support children on this journey
Your child’s Key Person will continue to play an important role in their learning and development. Every day, at the beginning of the session, we hold small and short Key Person-led group times where each child’s ideas and opinions are discussed to help them plan and get the best out of their day.
The well-planned day offers the opportunity for individual and group learning, both indoors and outdoors, through both planned activities and open access to resources. This encourages children to make their own explorations and lead their own learning experiences alongside those that have been planned by adults.
Your child will have individual assessments throughout the year to monitor their progress and their Key Person will directly communicate with you to ensure that together, we can help them continue to progress.
