Pasta Bracelets and Necklaces

Creating pasta necklaces and bracelets with children is a really lovely and creative way to support their physical development. Dyeing the pasta also offers opportunities to create and experiment with mixing colours and creating new colours. Be adventurous with this and let your child’s unique creativity shine through.

Children need to be supervised at all times when wearing anything around their necks

You will need

  • Uncooked pasta in as many varieties as you can find to offer different shapes and levels of difficulty with threading. Some examples are, penne, spirali, rigatoni, macaroni.
  • Food colouring – as many different colours as you can find
  • Clear sandwich bags
  • Wool or string
  • Newspaper

Start by placing the pasta into a selection of sandwich bags and then add food colouring into the bag making sure the colouring covers every part of the pasta. Once the pasta is covered take the pasta out of bag and place on newspaper to dry. When the pasta has dried you can start to thread the pasta onto the wool/string to make beautiful necklaces and bracelets.

This is a great activity that supports and develops fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination.
