Fun Shaving foam Activities!

Mark making is such an important part of a child’s development. You can support your child in many ways to develop early skills needed to start writing, art and drawing. Our fun shaving foam activity is one that will support these skills.

Using Shaving Foam for Sensory Play

Children imitate other children and adults using a variety of tools and resources to make marks, try and write familiar letters and words. Mark making with shaving foam can also be a sensory experience as they begin to understand that marks carry meaning.

Once a child can hold and grasp a tool they start to control the movement in their hand. This could be holding some food and bringing it to their mouths, picking up a pencil and placing it on paper or using paint to press onto a clean surface.

This is why playing with shaving foam is a great and fun activity for toddlers and preschoolers. You can use chopsticks, lolly sticks anything a child can grasp and you can challenge them to draw letters or objects they see. Only use shaving foam with children who are old enough to understand not to put it in their mouths!
