To make your balloon rockets, all you need is:
- A Balloon
- Some string
- A plastic Straw
- Sellotape
- 2 chairs
- 1 Paperclip
First of all, you need to tie a piece of string to a chair, then feed the string through the straw. Once you have completed this you then tie the other end of the string to another chair.
You then need to blow hard into the balloon to inflate this. Not too hard otherwise, it may pop. DO NOT TIE THE BALLOON when you have inflated it. You can place some tape around the end to stop the air from escaping.
When you are comfortable you can try to attach the balloon to the straw with the sellotape.
Next, you then pull the balloon right back to the beginning of the string on the straw and then either let go of the balloon or take the tape off the end to allow the air to be released, this then allows it to fire it across from one end of the string to the other. You will watch the rocket fly across.
