Early Years are the where the foundations for life are built
We believe that the job of caring for, and developing children, is one of the most important jobs in the world. We believe that the Early Years are the integral years in a child’s life. This is the time that children are most receptive to learning and stimulation. The child’s experiences in these early years are vital to their wellbeing and future achievements. Our job is to create an engaging and varied environment which maximises the child’s opportunity to learn and develop.
Family-style approach – a network of loving care and close relationships
Our family style approach is important to us – and by family we mean whatever network of loving care and close relationships that the child experiences at home. We do our best to replicate that ‘family’ environment in all aspects of our daily nursery life; from our key person approach to supporting families to settle into the nursery, to delivering activities such as meal times in a supportive sociable way. By providing consistent and responsive care we ensure the child has the best opportunity for healthy emotional and social development.
Our children are given choices and supported in following their individual interests
Learning is best achieved when children have choices and can follow their own interests – supported by highly engaged adults. We are as passionate about our outdoor spaces as we are about provision indoors. Our gardens at our nursery in South Croydon give the children ongoing opportunities to run, climb, balance and jump, all of which support their strength, poise and confidence. Given the ability to choose an activity that interests them, children become deeply immersed in their play and involved in discovery, which in turn maximises their development. The role of our staff team is therefore to enable and facilitate rather than to overly direct the child’s activities. And of course to be engaged with words of inspiration, praise and high fives!
OFSTED have rated our day nursery in South Croydon as “Good”.
