Making an erupting volcano at home with your children can be a really fun and exciting project!
To Make the Volcano:
To make a “real-life” erupting volcano you will need the following:
- 150ml of Vinegar
- Baking powder
- A water bottle with the top cut off
- 3 tablespoons of washing up liquid
What You Need to Do
First of all, you need to pour the vinegar and the washing up liquid into the water bottle that has the top cut off.
Now carefully spoon 2 teaspoons of baking powder into the bottle then stand back to watch it foam over the top.
Try to ask your child open-ended question like, “what is happening?” or “what do you think will happen next?”.
Use a tray so that when your volcano erupts, it doesn’t erupt on the floor. Alternatively, erupt your volcano model in the bath or even outdoors if you have a space to use!
