About Us

How It All Began…

All About Children was established in 2010, by three colleagues who had worked together previously. Whilst they enjoyed working in the sector, they felt disillusioned by what was being provided. They were really passionate about childcare and wanted to establish a group that would put children at the centre of everything that they did, and so, All About Children was born.

Back in 2010, All About Children’s journey began with the belief that nothing was more important than delivering outstanding outcomes for children. This is a belief that our work family of over 900 members still strongly stand by today.

I have been impressed by the level of care given to my son since he started. The daily warm welcome of the staff makes both children and parents alike feel at ease. Seeing the smile on my boy’s face as we drive into the car park is proof enough for me that the team are doing something right.

Children are at the heart of our approach, in everything that we do and everything that we aspire to. One of our ethos statements is “We have the courage to put children before anything else”, and this truly sets the tone for how we value the children that we care for.

“We have always believed in prioritising the development of a love of learning in children, and believe that children who gain confidence and are encouraged to be curious, to explore, to challenge, to ask questions and to experiment will be better prepared for school and a life of learning.”

Westfields and Langley Gorse Day Nursery were the very first nurseries we acquired in September 2010. At that time, there were around 60 members of the team but today, that has grown to over 900!

Our Working Environment

All of the settings across our bespoke nurseries are designed and exceptionally well equipped to offer exciting, stimulating and engaging spaces for our children (and our teams) to grow and develop in, with lots of resources to utilise and natural light. These environments provide fantastic opportunities for the children in our care to explore, play and learn.

We would describe ourselves as friendly, open, transparent and informal. This working environment provides all of our team members with a warm and positive atmosphere. We like to view our nursery teams as ‘work families.’

Silchester Manor has given me a platform to not only work and learn but also make a difference in children’s development and growth. The nursery has a great team to coordinate and work with, which brings a great difference in morale. In all, a great setting to work with and be in!

Our Approach

Whilst our nurseries are all individual in their own right, we are inspired by many amazing early childhood pioneers. This is evident in our approach, policies and training practices.

We believe in promoting awe and wonder to our children that engages them in the joy of doing, rather than focusing on the end result.

My little girl has recently started and is absolutely loving her time at nursery. The settling in sessions were brilliant and really helped put my mind at ease, especially with me starting back at work. The ladies in the Baby Room are super friendly and enthusiastic and I can’t thank them enough for their support in what could have been quite an emotional rollercoaster.

Our Management Team

We believe in supporting our Nursery teams to deliver the very best job that they can and we do this through our fantastic team of specialists.  Our Senior Team is made up of a combination of Childcare and Education Managers and Operations Managers.

We choose not to have a Head Office which means that all of our Senior Team spend their time in our settings. As a result, both our Childcare and Education and Operations Managers know each team member really well and have the opportunity to mentor, train, develop and support them according to their individual needs.

I have been working for the nursery for nearly 3 years as the manager. I have loved watching the staff and children develop. We get a lot of support from other nurseries and our senior management team. There is a variety of career progression not just for the staff but for the management team also.

Silchester Manor is a great place to work. I have been here almost a year and have learnt so much. I enjoy coming into work every day and spending time with the children and staff. It has given me a passion to better myself in this area and hopefully start level 3 in childcare.

Sophie Baird – Lunch Cover

I find it hard to believe that I joined as an apprentice and now I’m a room leader.

Sydney – The Little People, Room Leader

I started off at college and quickly realized I wanted to explore more of the practical day to day side of childcare, so I opted for an apprenticeship. I started and have never looked back. I found the course very informative and it gave me exactly what I wanted which was to work with children.

Katie – The Little People, Apprentice, now Practitioner

I am so glad I undertook the apprenticeship; it has really given me an opportunity to have hands on experiences, learn about every aspect of childcare and has given me a way to put my knowledge that I’m learning into practice. I have a wonderful support network at The Little People.

Elsa – The Little People, Apprentice

I love working here, the team are wonderful role models and I really enjoy my day to day duties.

Katie – The Little People, Apprentice

I have been with Daybreak for almost 9 years, and I have learnt a great deal about the children’s development and I have been inspired so much from my current management team to work up to the position of Room Leader. Since All About Children have taken over, they have continued to support me with my progression and influenced me with their passion and enthusiasm.

Sarah Brend – Senior/Room Leader

I recently completed my level 2 in Childcare and I always wanted to train for my level 3. All About Children provided me with the opportunity to complete this training within the support of my team at Amersham Chiltern Avenue as well as support from my Area Maut Children.

Katie Cyster – Trainee Level 3

I knew I wanted to work in childcare and heard about apprenticeships, I wasn’t sure where to apply so put out a post on Facebook which Emma the Deputy responded to, she asked me to send in my CV which I did. Emma and the Manager interviewed me and gave me the opportunity to work as a temporary staff member to see if this was something I wanted to do. From the moment I started I knew this was a career I wanted to pursue. Since starting my apprenticeship here at Park Road I have grown in confidence and developed my knowledge through experience, guidance and support from all the team.

Connor – Apprentice Park Road

I was working at an After School Club and wanted to further my career so I applied at Park Road and was given the opportunity to gain a qualification in childcare whilst working as a Nursery Assistant. During this time I have developed my skills, I have learnt how to be a key carer, carry out observations, plan to meet the children's next steps and develop my knowledge of the EYFS and the Curiosity Approach. This isn't just a job I feel valued and part of a team.
